Product Overview
The SDF Tunnel Ventilation Fan is a high-efficiency axial flow fan designed for forced ventilation and local ventilation in road tunnels, railway tunnels, underground construction projects, mining roadways, and other confined underground spaces.
The fan is commonly connected to a flexible ventilation duct to deliver fresh air to tunnel headings or working areas, while also supporting the removal of contaminated air, dust, heat, and construction fumes.
EMS provides SDF Tunnel Ventilation Fans in different diameters, airflow capacities, pressure levels, motor powers, and configurations according to tunnel length, ventilation distance, duct dimensions, system resistance, and project requirements.
Main Applications
SDF Tunnel Ventilation Fans are suitable for:
- Tunnel Construction Ventilation
- Road Tunnel Ventilation
- Railway Tunnel Ventilation
- Underground Construction
- Mining Tunnel Ventilation
- Mine Heading Ventilation
- Tunnel Excavation
- Underground Roadway Ventilation
- Tunnel Heading Ventilation
- Long-Distance Duct Ventilation
- Underground Engineering Ventilation
- Local Tunnel Ventilation
- Construction Site Air Exchange

The above values are typical engineering reference ranges and are not fixed specifications for every SDF model. Final airflow, pressure, motor power, fan diameter, and configuration should be selected according to the actual tunnel ventilation system.
Working Principle
The SDF Tunnel Ventilation Fan uses an axial-flow impeller driven by an electric motor.
As the impeller rotates, air is accelerated through the fan in the axial direction and delivered into the connected ventilation duct. The duct then transports fresh air to the tunnel heading or working face.
Typical forced ventilation arrangement:
Fresh Air → SDF Tunnel Fan → Flexible Ventilation Duct → Tunnel Heading → Working Face
Depending on the ventilation system design, the fan can also be configured for exhaust applications to remove contaminated air, dust, heat, and construction fumes.
Key Features

High Airflow Capacity
The axial-flow design provides high-volume airflow for tunnel and underground ventilation applications.
Flexible Duct Connection
The fan can be connected to flexible ventilation ducts, making it suitable for tunnel excavation and long-distance local ventilation.
Long-Distance Ventilation
Different pressure configurations can be selected according to duct length, leakage, bends, and overall system resistance.
Compact Construction
The compact axial fan structure is suitable for underground construction sites where installation space is limited.
Continuous Operation
The fan can be equipped with industrial-grade motors, bearings, and components suitable for continuous-duty ventilation applications.
Customized Configuration
EMS can customize fan diameter, airflow, pressure, motor power, voltage, frequency, casing material, blade material, and duct connection according to project requirements.

Typical Installation Locations
SDF Tunnel Ventilation Fans can be installed at:
- Tunnel Portals
- Tunnel Headings
- Tunnel Construction Areas
- Underground Roadways
- Mine Heading Faces
- Underground Engineering Sites
- Ventilation Stations
- Long-Distance Duct Ventilation Systems
Fan Selection
Proper SDF Tunnel Ventilation Fan selection should consider the complete ventilation system rather than airflow alone.
Recommended selection information includes:
- Tunnel Length
- Ventilation Distance
- Tunnel Cross-Section
- Required Airflow
- Required Pressure
- Ventilation Duct Diameter
- Duct Length
- Duct Leakage
- Number of Duct Bends
- Fan Installation Location
- Motor Voltage
- Power Frequency
- Ambient Temperature
- Dust and Gas Conditions
- Required Operating Hours
For long-distance duct ventilation, duct diameter, duct length, leakage rate, bends, and system resistance can significantly affect the required fan pressure.
