Working Principle
The explosion-proof fan uses a suitably configured motor to drive the impeller and move air, flammable gases, vapors or dust-containing air through the hazardous-area ventilation system.
Typical ventilation process:
Hazardous Area → Explosion-Proof Fan → Exhaust Duct → Gas Treatment / Safe Discharge
Chemical exhaust process:
Process Equipment → Explosion-Proof Exhaust Fan → Scrubber / VOC Treatment → Exhaust Stack
Key Features

Hazardous-Area Ventilation
Designed for industrial ventilation applications where flammable gases, vapors or combustible dust may be present.
Explosion-Proof Motor
The fan can be matched with an appropriate explosion-proof motor according to the hazardous-area classification and project requirements.
Spark-Reducing Configuration
Where required, suitable impeller, inlet and structural configurations can be selected to reduce potential ignition sources caused by mechanical contact or abnormal operating conditions.
Centrifugal and Axial Options
EMS can provide both Explosion-Proof Centrifugal Fans and Explosion-Proof Axial Fans for process exhaust, local ventilation and general hazardous-area ventilation.
Corrosion-Resistant Options
For chemical and petrochemical applications, carbon steel, stainless steel and other suitable material configurations can be selected according to the gas composition.
Customized Engineering
Airflow, pressure, materials, motor, drive system, inlet/outlet arrangement, electrical configuration and installation structure can be customized according to project requirements.

Selection Requirements
Explosion-proof fan selection requires more information than standard industrial fan selection.
Customers should provide:
- Required Airflow
- Static or Total Pressure
- Gas or Dust Type
- Gas Concentration
- Gas Group
- Hazardous Area Classification
- Temperature Class
- Gas Temperature
- Dust Characteristics
- Motor Voltage
- Frequency
- Installation Location
- Required Certification
- Operating Hours
Important: An "explosion-proof fan" is not automatically suitable for every hazardous location. The fan, motor and electrical components must be selected according to the flammable substance, hazardous-area classification, temperature class, equipment group, applicable regulations and required certification.
